The Arkansas State University Choir, directed by Dr. Dale Miller, will present a concert open to the entire community at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Rector First General Baptist Church.

The event will help raise funds for the choir's planned trip to Italy next spring. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. The hour-long program by the outstanding choir is sure to thrill all who attend.

"The trip will be during our spring break," said Dr. Miller. "We will leave March 18 and return March 26. We will be singing in St. Peter's Basilica at The Vatican -- quite an experience. We will sing twice in Rome and twice in Florence."

Miranda Weaver, a 2009 graduate of Rector High School, is a member of the 61-voice choir. "We are very excited to spread the word of God through singing at local churches and our trip to European churches," she said.

Weaver, an alto in the ASU Choir, is the daughter of Buz and Barbara Weaver of Rector.
