Last Thursday the Mohawks traveled to Hoxie for a re-match with the Lady Mustangs. Back on Sept. 17 the Tribe had hosted Hoxie, and posted a come-from behind win. Last week the girls from Lawrence County returned the favor on their home floor.
In the senior match the Lady Mohawks jumped out early and took the first two games 25-17 and 25-22. But the Mustangs rallied and took the final three games over the Tribe 25-18, 25-20 and 25-8. Hoxie also took the junior high match over Piggott 25-18 and 25-21.
Saturday the junior girls took part in a tournament at Brookland and in pool play posted wins over Harrisburg and CRA before losing to Greene County Tech. The girls also dropped a pair to Nettleton 12-25 and 19-25.
Monday night the Bay Yellowjackets visited PHS with all teams playing. And when the dust had cleared the Lady Mohawks had completed a sweep of their non-conference visitors.
In the seventh grade match the Mohawks took the win 19-18 and 21-15. The Tribe also took the junior "B" match by a final of 25-16.
The junior varsity team took their set in two straight games, 25-8 and 25-20 and the senior "B" squad easily won their game by a final of 25-9.
In the varsity set the Lady Mohawks cruised to a three-game set victory 25-12, 25-7 and 25-9.
All teams were scheduled to be in action Tuesday night as the Brookland Lady Bearcats were set to visit PHS in conference play. Thursday, Oct. 8 the Tribe is scheduled to visit Walnut Ridge with the first game set to begin at 4:30. Next Monday, Oct. 12 the Mohawks will visit Paragould and the senior district tournament will be played Oct. 17-19 at Crowley's Ridge Academy.
