Project Completed

Travis Boyd (left) and Larry Holifield inspect the monument that was erected last week on the Northwest corner of the courthouse lawn in Piggott. The monument, a project of the Clay County Genealogical and Historical Society, was spearheaded by Holifield and his wife Carol. The monument lists all the original elected officials that took office in 1873 and 1874 in Clayton County, which later became known as Clay County. The original county judge, Thomas Marion Holifield, is the great-grandfather of both men. The monument was placed last week by Redmon Monument. (Times photo/Tim Blair)
