Rector was unable to muster much in the way of offense on the night, achieving on four first downs in the game, three of which came on their very first possession.
"We never got anything going offensively," Rector coach Nate Henderson said. "Through a combination of the mud and their defense, we were just shut down on offense."
McCrory scored on their first possession, en route to taking a 28-0 lead at intermission. The hosts added touchdowns in the third and fourth frames, setting the final in place.
"I don't feel like we had much intensity on the defensive side of the ball, but you've got give McCrory credit," Henderson said. "They came out ready to play and got after it. They're a very talented team."
The 2A-3 conference has been a difficult playground for the Junior Cougars as they make their way back from failing to field a full team a year ago.
"Right now, our conference is really stacked," Henderson said. "We're going to have to keep going out and working hard every day in practice to catch up."
The Junior Cougars will wrap up their season In Rector this week. The team is set to host Marked Tree at 7 p.m. Thursday in the season finale.
