Georgia Melton

She was born October 5, 1947, in Winter Haven, Fla., the daughter of Lloyd and Daisey (Tanner) Clifton. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisey Clifton and one brother, Jerry Clifton.

She was united in marriage to Homer Melton on May 21, 1987. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Melton of Piggott; her father, Lloyd Clifton of Auburndale, Fla.; three step-daughters, Lesa Beck and Roger of Nimmons, Vonda Samples of Kennett and Michelle Bradshaw and husband Greg of Piggott; nine grandchildren, Rocky Beck, Kasey Beck, John Daniel Beck, Tyler Samples, Kortney Toombs, Jeremy Toombs, Caleb "KB" Toombs, Blakely Bradshaw and Kara Blansett; one great-grandson, Devin Beck; one great granddaughter, Talan Toombs; one brother, Larry Clifton of Winter Haven, Fla.; one sister, Joyce Drawdy of Winter Haven, Fla.; one half-brother, Jimmy Clifton of Winter Haven, Fla., along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers will be Rocky Beck, Roger Beck, Greg Bradshaw, Brandon Smart, Jeremy Toombs, Rick Samples, Tyler Samples and Eric Southerly. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb "KB" Toombs, John Daniel Beck and Devin Beck. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was set for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
