Mohawks mark senior night

The senior members of the Piggott Mohawk football team served as honorary team captains for last Thursday's finale at Parker Field. The Tribe posted a decisive 26-7 win over their cross county rivals in the contest, giving the class of 2010 a great send-off. The players include, from left--Jared McKinnie, James Garrett Daniels, Cody Whitten, Taylor Wood, Blake Griffin, David Blackburn, Daniel Chandler and Kenneth Blackmon.

Prior to the contest the senior members of the team were introduced and recognized, along with the senior members of the PHS cheerleading squad. During the halftime show the senior members of the Marching Mohawk band were introduced to the crowd as well.

Senior football players this year include Blake Griffin, son of Larry and Angie Griffin; Kenneth Blackmon, son of David and Angela Blackmon; Jerad McKinnie, son of Jerry and Michelle McKinnie; Cody Whitten, son of Sharon and Brian Whitten; James Garrett Daniels, son of Harry and Karen Bageant; Daniel "D.C." Chandler, son of Thierry and Melinda Chandler; David "Moose" Blackburn, son of Brent Blackburn and Robyne Nage, and Taylor Wood, son of Kenny and Kim Wood.

The senior members of the cheerleading squad include Corrie Lehmann, daughter of Larry and Patty Lehman; Shayna Duffy, daughter of Anita and Howard Duffy; Amber Broadway, daughter of Sherry and Eugene Broadway and Rick Galyean; Jessica Hendrix, daughter of Michael and Tammye Hendrix; Camista Sanders, daughter of Peggy Newsom, and Ashley Anderson, daughter of Jerry and Jacquita Anderson.

At halftime both the Corning Bobcat and Marching Mohawk bands performed their marching programs. Afterward band seniors were introduced and they include drum major Shane May, son of Jim and Teresa May; Pam Franks, daughter of Billy and Linda Franks; Jana Johnson, daughter of Yvonne and Linn Beaver, Bobby and Vicky Johnson and Lisa Armour; Heather Neeley, daughter of Tony Neeley and Rhonda Starnes; Camista Sanders, daughter of Peggy Newsom; Elizabeth Nettles, daughter of Scott and Judy Nettles, and Jarrod Davis, son of Terry and Sheila Davis.
