Harris "Mr. Pete" Fruge

Funeral services for Harris "Mr. Pete" Fruge, age 92, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct.22, 2009, in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville, La., with the Reverend Billy Wayne Ivy officiating. Interment followed in the Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Fruge, who was a native of Marksville, La., and a resident of Piggott, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in Piggott.

He is survived by his daughters, Virginia Heatherwick of Lettsworth, La., Mary Francis Ivy of Piggott, Rita Faye Lavergne of Jefferson, La., Marjorie Ann Fruge of Lettsworth, La., and Bonnie Key Gautreaux of Melville, La.; his sisters, Beulah Sanders and Mildred Jones, both of Melville, along with 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by wife, Josephine Phillips Fruge; son, Mack Savant; daughter, Christine Sanders; grandsons, Derek Viola and Harris Dewayne Sanders, and a granddaughter, Crystal Gail Shelton.

A visitation was held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville Wednesday, Oct. 21, and prior to the service Thursday, Oct. 22.
