Curtis Smart

Curtis Smart, 88, of St. Francis, Ark, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

He was born Dec. 2, 1920 in Piggott, the son of the late Pinkney Julian and Rutha Louisa (Johnson) Smart.

He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Poe Feb. 3, 1950, and to this union two sons were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Smart; two grandchildren, Patricia and Chadwick; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Wylie Smart of Jonesboro, and Allen Smart and wife Rita of St. Francis; four grandchildren, Shane Smart, Rebecca Smart, Richard Smart and Ashley Vincent; one great granddaughter, Emma Flanigan; two brothers, Willard Smart of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Burl Smart of Farmington, Mo.; one sister, Marie Haynes of Campbell, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 5, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens officiating. Burial was in Hall Cemetery at St Francis with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge arrangements. Pallbearers were Richard Smart, Shane Smart, Kevin Baxter, Scott Baxter, Wesley Baxter and Tom Todd.
