Betty Abernathy, 81, of Piggott, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Murphy Health and Rehab in Piggott.
She was born May 14, 1928, at Holly Island, and was the daughter of the late Tolly and Lillie (Hall) Caldwell.
She was united in marriage to Billy Wayne Abernathy. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Scott Caldwell and Tolly Rex Caldwell; half brother, Walter Crain, and half sister, Lavern Doering.
Betty was a member of the New Piggott Chapter #623 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also retired from Brown Shoe Company.
She is survived by her son, Bill Abernathy of Rochester Hills, Mich.; five grandchildren, John, Margaret, Mark, Adam and Amanda; four great-grandchildren; brother, Don Caldwell of Holly Island, and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
