He was born June 25, 1925, in Piggott, the son of Albert and Lela Mae Morgan.
He was a member of the College Church of Christ in Searcy, Ark. He was a 1943 graduate of Piggott High School. He later graduated from of the University of Oklahoma College Of Pharmacy and was an active registered pharmacist for 56 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the World War II and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He served on the Crowley's Ridge Academy and Crowley's Ridge College Boards.
While living in Corning, he served on the Corning Chamber of Commerce, the Industrial Development Board, the Corning Savings and Loan Board. He was a great servant to his family, church and community. He served on the Harding University Development Council and was passionate about golf and all Harding University Bison Athletics.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Emma Lou (Russell) Morgan; his wife, Helen (Colglazier) Morgan; his wife, Norma (Frank) Morgan; his parents; his brother, Coy Morgan; sister, Vagle Tieche; half-brother, Louis Payne and a great-grandson Alexander Morgan Trotter of St. Louis.
He is survived by his children, daughters, Terry (Joe) Johnson of Paragould, Karla (Joe) Patterson of Madison, Miss., Shelly (Jay) Trotter of Searcy and sons Jerry (Teri) Morgan of Amarillo, Texas and Jeff (Christy) Morgan of Searcy; along with Helen's children, daughter, Sherla (Tom) Winter of Abilene, Texas, sons, Roger (Brenda) Colglazier of Cookeville, Tenn., Tim (Cathey) Colglazier of Ft. Worth, Texas, daughters, Martha Leeson of Garland, Texas, and Nancy (Mike) Oliver of Searcy; and Norma's children, Sharon (Steve) of Murphy, Texas, and son, James Frank of Searcy. He treasured his 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was known as "PaPa" and "PaPa" Gerald." He was truly a man of integrity, humor and grace.
He is survived by his brother, A.J. (Margaret) Morgan of Jacksonville, Ark., and sister, Frances Swartz of Orlando, Fla.
Gerald's family expresses their deep gratitude for all who have surrounded us with prayers, love and many acts of kindness.
Visitation was held Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Services were conducted Saturday at the College Church of Christ in Searcy. Interment was in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Gerald G. and Emma Lou Morgan Endowed Scholarship Fund at Harding University, Box 12238, Searcy, Ark., 72149.
