Paul Farmer, 90, of Jonesboro, formerly of Piggott, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home in Jonesboro.

He was born March 26, 1919, in Cardwell, Mo., and was the son of the late Otis L. and Amanda Elizabeth (Litherland) Farmer.

He was united in marriage to Mary Elaine Pollard March 24, 1940. After 62 years of marriage, she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Gene Farmer.

Everyone knew Paul as a master wood craftsman and he created unique furniture. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. Paul was also member of the First Baptist Church of Piggott for 75 years, where he served as Choir Director for 35 years.

Survivors include his son, Joe Farmer and wife Gerri of Jonesboro; two grandsons, Adam Farmer and Todd Hansen; two great-grandchildren, Kayli and Madison; sister, Francis Meldrum of Carrollton, Ohio; a special six-year-old friend, Anna Leigh Holmes of Hope Mills, S.C., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Shanklin, Thomas Sneed, David Ballard, Barry Johnson, Bob Mullins and Wade Williams. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
