Veteran's Day

Although the weather was near perfect, the mood was somber for the 2009 Veteran's Day ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 11, in Piggott. With the flag flying at half-mast in honor of the soldiers killed and wounded at Ft. Hood, the ceremonial wreath was placed at the Clay County Veteran's Memorial in front of the courthouse. Taking part in this year's ceremony were, from left, VFW Commander Charles Wright, VFW Auxiliary president Paul Holcomb and American Legion commander John Harmon.
