He was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Piggott, and was the son of the late Homer and Nora (Rogers) Haywood.
He was married to Ethel Stokes Nov. 17, 1949. She preceded him in death July 19, 2000, and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Zelma Siecinski, Lou Ridge and Myrtle Johnson, along with one brother, Claude Haywood.
Don will be fondly remembered for his long years of service to the Clay County Road Department as a road grader driver. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
He is survived by three children, Tommy Haywood and wife Venita of Kennett, Ricky Haywood and wife Susan of Piggott and Sue Adams and husband Tim of Piggott; one sister, Alma Hollis of Kennett; five grandchildren, Ashley Haywood, Sarah Bass and husband Clint, Scott Haywood and wife Lora, James Haywood and Daniel Haywood; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Joshua and Austin Haywood, along with many other loving family and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 17. at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Piggott. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Topper Killough and Joe Payne officiating. Interment was in the Williams Cemetery near Crockett.
Active pallbearers were James Haywood, Daniel Haywood, Scott Haywood, Chase Hinkle, Mick Barker and Jerry Lewis.
