DAVID WILTON ARGO

David Wilton Argo, 49, passed away Nov. 24, 2009. A Celebration of Life memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Chestnut Hill Plantation Clubhouse in Columbia, S.C.

Inurnment followed at Bush River Memorial Gardens. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be held in Jonesboro at a later date.

David was born Oct. 13, 1960, in Washington, Mo., a son of Kenneth Wilton Argo and Ernestine (Davidson) Argo, formerly of Piggott. After graduating Piggott High in 1979, he went on to study broadcast production and communications at Arkansas State University. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1984.

David's professional career began as a television producer with KAIT-TV in Jonesboro. In 1992, he transferred to sister-station WIS-TV in Columbia, S.C. After 13 years with Cosmos Broadcasting, he transitioned to the newly-formed Wray Media as president and general manager. Five years later, David began his own local production agency, Argo & Associates.

Throughout his career, David received numerous Addy awards from the Northeast Arkansas Advertising Federation and the American Advertising Federation of the Midlands. He was also presented with an Outstanding Service award from KAIT-TV, several recognitions in honor of his work with Children's Hospital Miracle Network Telethon and a Telly award for best film production.

David is survived by his parents; son, David W. Argo, Jr. and wife Julie of Jonesboro; daughter, Sara G. Argo and her mother Roxanne Gower Argo of Columbia, S.C.; companion Lisa Finn of Columbia, S.C.; sister, Debbie (Argo) McEwen and husband Robert of Anchorage, Alaska; nephew Lafe McEwen and nieces Samantha and Callie McEwen, also of Anchorage, Alaska.

David enjoyed being outside, whether it was fly-fishing, hunting or pool lounging. He had a natural talent for playing drums and singing; music and performing was a large part of his life. He loved his friends, his family, and his laughter and sense of humor will be missed by many.
