The Piggott band program will sponsor the annual "Supper with Santa" from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Piggott Community Center. The event will include performances by Piggott High School's Swingin' Mohawks jazz band, pictures with Santa Claus, a silent auction and a chili supper.

Tickets are being sold by Piggott band members and are available for $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Children five years old and younger will be admitted free. The meal will include chili, hot dogs and dessert. Santa Claus will stop by the chili supper to visit with children and pose for pictures, which will be sold for $3.

The jazz band will perform a variety of selections, including jazz, pop and holiday tunes, throughout the evening under the direction of Brian Pearson, who also leads the senior high band. Nathan Evans is junior high band director. The two bands, along with the sixth grade band, will perform their annual holiday concert at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Piggott Middle Gym. Admission to that event is free.

Organizers report that businesses and industries in the Piggott area have donated numerous items to be given away during a silent auction, a popular part of the "Supper with Santa" event. Among the items donated early in the planning process were John Deere items, a one-night stay at the Downtown Inn, a one-year subscription to The Piggott Times, tools, meals and other treats from several local restaurants, T-shirts, a one-month membership from Club Fitness, gift certificates for shopping, a teddy bear and a camouflage jacket and overalls. Additional items are expected to be available by the date of the event.

Tickets are currently on sale. Those wanting more information may contact Brian Pearson or Nathan Evans at 598-3815.
