Harriett Emaline Howard, 86, of Piggott died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Evergreen Health and Rehab in Rector.

Harriett was born in Piggott, November 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Edgar Williams, Sr., and Susan Matilda (Adams) Williams. Harriett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active until her health no longer permitted. She worked at Brown Shoe Company for many years and later served as dispatcher for the City of Piggott. She also loved playing cards and fishing with her friends.

She was married to Gene T. Howard in 1951. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Wells and husband Joe of Greenway; special family member, Sandra J. Brasfield and husband Kenneth of Palmetto, Fla.; two grandchildren, Nathan Wells and wife Kelley and Kiley Wells, all of Jonesboro; special sister-in-law, Frances McElroy; several nieces, nephews and cousins, along with other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Williams, Jr.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Piggott First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Angela Moore officiating. Burial followed in Piggott Cemetery with arrangements by Irby Funeral Home. Music was under the direction of Larry Norred and Kenneth Renshaw.
