Betty Jean (Brown) Mitts
Betty Jean (Brown) Mitts, 81, of Piggott, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
She was born April 28, 1928, in Pollard, and was the daughter of the late Homer and Blanche (Davis) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Mitts; her children's father, Arth Brown; her parents; one daughter, Mary Burgess; two brothers, Donald and Gerald Williams and one infant sister, Vickie.
She leaves to mourn four sons, Curtis Brown and wife Cheryl of Corning, Marion Brown and wife Verlene of Pollard, Dickie Brown and wife Gail of Omaha, Neb., and Arth Brown and wife Amanda of Edgewood, Mo.; four daughters, Lillian McAfee of House Springs, Mo., Barbara Sheckenberg and husband Joe of Homestead, Fla., Ruth McFee of Tampa, Fla., and Betty Jo Dietz and husband Jon of Valley Park, Mo.; two brothers, Bob Williams and wife Barb of Van Buren, Mo., and Bill Williams and wife Lillian of Dupo, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a host of other cousins and relatives and loved ones and special friends, Kathleen Beaver and Neil White.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Richardson and Johnny Colley officiating. Burial was in Holcomb Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Rick Culver, Lance Langley, Glen Davis, Mike Lambert, Joe Bass and Mike Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Lambert, Dee Shelton, Lillian McAfee, David McDonald, Steve Williams and Steve Baker.
