Kimble Talley, Education Specialist from Little Rock Central High National Historic Site, was a quest teacher in Mrs. Veleda Langley's sixth grade Social studies class at PES recently.

Talley spoke to the students about discrimination, segregation and Jim Crow laws. She also did a photo analysis and used the white boards during the lesson.

The students learned about the Little Rock Nine and Ruby Bridges.

Langley's class also discussed whether they had ever been discriminated against by color, gender, things they have worn or what a person looks like, etc. The focus of the lesson was to celebrate Black History Month. The students noted they really enjoyed visiting with Talley and hearing all the information she had to offer.
