The Mohawks had three players score in double figures on the game, paced by sophomore point guard Spencer Coomer with 11. Meanwhile, juniors Alek Samples and Hayden McMillon finished with 10 points each in the loss.
With the conclusion of this year's season the Tribe bids farewell to their lone senior, Trent Edwards. The remainder of the roster, along with several good freshmen, will return next year. But, many of the top teams in the district, including Earle, Rivercrest and Manila will also see the majority of their starters returning next season.
In the other boy's game Tuesday at Earle, Brookland and Tuckerman's boys combined to break two state records as the Bearcats advanced by a final of 117-104.
The total of 221 points blasted the previous record of 201 set when Manila beat Judsonia 102-99 back in 1964. The Bearcats also made 20 three point baskets in the game, breaking the record of 19 that was set twice. The first time was Feb. 2, 2001 as the Bergman Panthers took on Bruno-Pyatt and the second time was Nov. 11, 2004 in a contest between Rural Special and Evening Shade.
