Bobby Jane Darnell

Bobby Jane Darnell, 74, formerly of Piggott, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at her home in Griffithville, Ark., after a bout with cancer.

Bobby was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Mississippi County, Ark., the daughter of the late Henry and Inez (Walls) Crawford. She was of the Pentecostal faith, was a homemaker, collected whatnots and ceramic dolls, loved to dance and favored country music.

She was married to Fred Holifield, and he preceded her in death in 1950. She married Herbert Darnell Aug. 5, 1978, and he preceded her in death Aug. 10, 1983.

She is survived by three sons, Michael Holifield and wife Jackie of North Carolina, along with David Holifield and Dennis Holifield and wife Lina, all of Griffithville; one sister, Sandra Leach of Corning; 11 grandchildren, Shannon, Brandon, Todd, David, Robert, Jessica, Peggy, Steve, Mark, Stacey and Kevin; three step-grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer and Raymond; 31 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Marion Sanders.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Danny and Glen Crawford, along with one sister, Martha Crawford.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Bro. Charles Midgett officiating. Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway. Pallbearers were Thomas Drinkwater, Jason Hill, Shannon Holifield, Angela Tucker, Todd Holifield and Brandon Holifield.
