Born in Nashville, Tenn., July 13, 1938, he was the son of the late Daniel and Ruby (Langley) Karnes. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Ross Controls in Lavonia, Ga. Mr. Karnes was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a volunteer for Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Meals on Wheels and Home With A Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Omelenchuk) Karnes; children, Laurie Garrett of DeLeon Springs, Fla., Richard Karnes of Athens, Ga., Sherry Wagner of Harrington, Del., and James Karnes of Anderson, S.C., along with four beloved grandchildren, Jennie, Ryan, Angel and Richie.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Tony Smith and the Reverend Tom Turner officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
