Velma Gail Gilkison

Velma Gail Gilkison, 57, of Piggott, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Stonewall, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Velma (Henley) Jones.

She was united in marriage to Edmond Eugene Gilkison on Sept. 1, 1974. He preceded her in death in 2003.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Jones and Nevida Henley.

Survivors include her four sons, Chris Gilkison and wife Susan of Piggott, Joey Gilkison and wife Heather of Texas, Stephen Gilkison of Piggott and Jeremy Gilkison and wife Tony of St. Francis; two daughters, Patricia Crawford and husband Chris of St. Francis and Ashley Williams of Rector; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon and Mark Gilkison, Dayton, McKenzie and Trace Gilkison, Aaron and Aaliyah Gilkison and Austin, Zachary and Abigail Crawford; four brothers, James Jones of Corning, H.C. Brothers of Paragould, Robert Jones of Holiday, Ark., and John Jones of Paragould; two sisters, Mandy Roush and Bertha Howe both of Lafe, Ark., along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.

Pallbearers are Robert Naes, Michael Vierling, James Cowart, Wade Williams, James Roush and Artis Roush. John Jones and James Ralph will serve as honorary pallbearers.
