Lester Burl Haley, 79, of Piggott, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Greenway, and was the son of the late Sidney Burl and Millie Anna (Williams) Haley.
He was united in marriage to Betty Joyce Mobley, Nov. 8, 1952, and to this union five children were born.
Burl was a long-time member of Hitts Chapel General Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee for many years. Burl enjoyed farming and raising cattle and spent many years roofing in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Gail, and two brothers, Charles Haley and John Haley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Joyce Haley of Piggott; three sons, Michael Haley and wife Kim of Piedmont, Mo., Brent Haley and wife Michele of Rector and Brian Haley and wife Lori of Piggott; one daughter, Joy Lambert and husband Mike of Piggott; 10 grandchildren, Ethan, Andrew, Clinton, Lenae, Peyton, Abby, Anna, Haley, Joseph and Molly; two sisters, Barbara Hampton of Benton, Ark., and Marilyn Spicer of California, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at Hitts Chapel General Baptist Church with Charles Richardson and Shawn Parker officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
