Into what we would refer to as a portion of the eternal summer that fills our hopeful souls goes our faith in our Creator. He has never sent us more than we can bear, despite the bitterness at watching such destruction there. Nor do we believe that He brings such events to bear as punishment for sins committed by the culprits whose neglect made it happen.
The leak will be plugged. The sea creatures will replenish their numbers in due time. The marine life forms will survive the damage done to their spawning places in the marshes and low-lying areas ashore. All in good time.
Eventually, the oceans will heal themselves with the wisdom of their intricate chemistry. The Navy hymn appeals to the "Eternal Father, born to save, Whose hand does stay the restless wave, and bids the mighty oceans deep His self-appointed limits keep." Our cry goes forth for those in peril on the sea...This will be our prayer for the fishermen, those who make their living catching shrimp and oysters along with other delicacies we humans enjoy as seafood.
There is no need to make sympathy and compassion wants of gloom and despair --- let the eternal summer dwell deeply ingrained in our spirits as hope and alive with the vigor of faith.
Somehow, and rightfully so, those responsible must pay in full in repairs what has been so wretchedly torn apart to wreak such a pitiful outcome. We must adopt the mode of survival and pass it right along to our aggrieved neighbors to the south.
