The Piggott Mohawk and Lady Mohawk golf teams got their season underway Monday, Aug. 16 as both squads beat the Corning Bobcats at Sugar Creek Country Club. This year's teams, under the leadership of Coach Nikki Speer, return a good deal of young talent after posting district and regional championship in the past two years.

Against the Bobcats Monday the low medalist for the girl's match was Allison Gurley, while Tanner Murray was low-medalist for the boy's match. Both teams posted 13 stroke victories over their conference rivals from Corning in notching the season-opening wins.

Members of this year's girl's squad for Speer are Gurley, Breanna Wright, Mallory Wright, Kayla Morgan, Bailey Reagan, Hunter French and Taylor Davis.

This year's boy's team consists of Murray, Hayden McMillon, Blake Morgan, Logan Murray, Spencer Coomer and Austin Murray.
