James "Jim" Gregory

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at McDaniel Funeral Home for James "Jim" Gregory of Kennett, Mo.

Officiating were Reverends Ed Jansson and Kenny Burns. On Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 68 years of age, James passed away at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo., surrounded by his loving family and friends.

James was born Jan. 21, 1942, in the Rector, Ark., area.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Gregory; five brothers and sisters, Nila Holman and husband Harold, Neda Sain, Roger Gregory and wife Arlene, Pam Foster and husband, Mike, all of Rector, and Byron Gregery and wife Joanie of Collinsville, Ill.

He was the step-father of Beth and Jason Saltzman and Jim Brotherton. James also had eight nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Dimple Gregory.

After serving in the U.S. Army for two years from 1966 to 1968 and spending one of those years in Viet Nam, where he served with the First Cavalry Division, James came home and began driving an 18-wheeler for Emerson Electric. He later moved to Louisiana, where he worked for VanWaters and Rogers Chemical Company for 20 years.

After retiring and moving back to Kennett in 2000, he began working part-time for Graves Gin.

James was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kennett, Mo., and had many friends in the church and community.
