He was born June 1, 1948, in Waycross, Ga., and was the son of the late John Martin and Goldie Mae Crews Aldridge.
Mr. Aldridge retired from Gracewood Fruit Company of Vero Beach, Fla. He fought a long battle with cancer for many years. He was an outdoor person. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
His grandson, Charlie Thornton, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Virginia; sons, Garland (Rusty) Aldridge and wife Kristina of Dunnellon, Fla., James M. Aldridge and wife Diane of Vero Beach, Fla.; daughters, Dorothy Thornton and husband Tommy of Vero Beach, Fla., Goldie Blades and husband Rocky of Piggott; grandchildren, Cory Thornton, Lauren Aldridge, Ty Aldridge, Bailey Aldridge, Leslie Blades, Hannah Blades, Rocky Blades, Charles Blades and Shannon Blades; great-granddaughter, Madison; sister, Lautrell Melton of Waycross, Ga.; brothers, Walter Aldridge and wife Judy of Morriston, Fla., Charlie Aldridge and wife Donna of Blackshear, Ga., and Larry Aldridge of Waycross, Ga., and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
