Helen Holifield, 87, of Piggott passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
She was born April 6, 1923, in Malden and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Gertie Taylor Vancil.
She was united in marriage to Lewis Holifield on Aug. 21, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1990. To this union two daughters were born.
Helen was a faithful member of the Cummins Chapel Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Edwards and husband Deloyd of Pollard, and Sharon Wright and husband Eldon of Wappapello, Mo.; two brothers: Billy Vancil of Sullivan, Mo., and Joe Vancil of Davison, Mich.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. Frank Burgess officiating. Burial followed in Cummins Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donnie Holifield, Jerry Causey, Mark Howell, James Howell, Trent Edwards, and Matt Burgess. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
