Arkansas State Trooper Mark Vavak of Piggott is "recovering well at home" following an accident Friday evening, July 22, near Knobel.

According to a report by the Arkansas State Police, Vavak, 41, had finished investigating an accident at the same location when he lost control of his patrol car as he pulled back onto the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree on the east side of the highway, then flipped over as it spun out of control, trapping Vavak in the wreckage.

Emergency units, including the ASP, Clay County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas Methodist Medical Center ambulance services responded to the scene. Crews were able to free a responsive Vavak from the wreckage. He was transported by ambulance to AMMC in Paragould with undisclosed injuries.
