A Piggott man miraculously avoided serious injury after the semi truck he was driving struck a moving train in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 30.

According to information provided by the Arkansas State Police Highway Patrol, Robert Brawner, 57, of Piggott was traveling north along Highway 49. As Brawner approached the intersection of Highway 49 and Greene 523 Road, he reportedly lost control of the tractor trailer, leaving the roadway and crossing the ditch on the eastern side. The large truck went up the eastern embankment on 523 and struck one of the rear cars of a southbound train.

Both the semi and the train were damaged by the collision. The large truck was moved by wrecker. Repairs were made to the train car on site, allowing it to continue. The train was halted for approximately four hours for repairs and examinations.
