Rachel Mae Gower
Rachel Mae Gower, 87, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
She was born on May 16, 1924, in Pollard, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Charlie Ford and Bessie Settlemoir Dunlap.
She was preceded by her brothers, Leslie, Jewell and Kenneth Dunlap, and her stepsons, Chuck and Bobby Clay Gower.
Rachel was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott and Past Worthy Matron of the New Piggott Chapter # 623 Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 35 years, Bobby Gower; her children, Carl Toombs of Piggott, Ark., Phillip Toombs of Paragould, Ark., and Carol Toombs Turk of Tampa, Fla.; her step-children, Mike Hanrahan of Michigan, Tammy Causey of Campbell, Mo., Laura Braman of Campbell, Mo., and Shannon Gilbee of Pollard, Ark., and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers are Thomas Sneed, Don Featherston, Tom Sims, Ed Thompson, Jim Largent and Jim Thieme. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements.
