Junior Haywood, 78, of St. Francis, Ark., passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1933, in Crockett, Ark., and was the son of the late Edgar Alan and Cora Jane Parks Haywood.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Glidewell on April 10, 1955, and to this union one son was born.
Junior worked for Brown Shoe Company for 20 years and for Malden Wholesale Foods for 19 years before retiring from Wise Company. He was a member of the St. Francis Baptist Church and Eastern Star Masonic Lodge # 209. He was an Army veteran and enjoyed horseback riding.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Haywood; son, Rick Haywood and wife Donna of St. Francis, Ark.; two grandchildren, Kalee Haywood and Nick Haywood; sister, Geneva Couch of Texas, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in the St. Francis Baptist Church in St. Francis, Ark., with Randy Deprow officiating. Burial was in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Duty, Don Featherston, James Latimer, Johnny McKenney, Gary Nichols, Max Poole, Jim Pruett and Van Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Hinkle, Charles Albert Hollis, Harry Niewald, Sr., Brad Tullos, Ronnie Cole and Ronnie Tullos. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements.
