Eunice L. Hamilton
Eunice L. Hamilton of Piggott, Ark., died Feb . 11, 2012, in Sherwood. She was 102 and lived in Piggott for over 70 years.
Born in Melbourne, Ark., on Oct. 6, 1909, she was the eldest daughter of Minnie Smith and W.O. Lawrence.
Eunice is survived by her sister, Mary Little, and her husband, Ray, of Melbourne, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Lawrence of Portland, Ore., and Anna Marie Lawrence of Santa Ana, Calif. Preceding her in death were one sister, Nedra Stinson, and five brothers, William, James, Robert, Donald and Joseph Lawrence.
Eunice married Clarence A. (Coach) Hamilton, Sr. in 1937. He died in 1949, leaving her to raise two children, Clarence A., Jr. (Al) and James Patrick (Pat) by herself.
She is also survived by Al and his wife, Rose, of North Little Rock and three grandchildren (Charles, Richard and Janet), Pat
and his wife, Brenda, of Little Rock, and three step-grandchildren (Toby, Jeffery and Laurie), and six great-grandchildren.
Having completed 10 years of school in Melbourne, Eunice moved to Brinkley. Living with relatives, the A.B. Cooper family, she graduated from Brinkley High School in 1929. She moved
to Piggott shortly afterwards. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School classes and participating in other church activities.
She moved to North Little Rock in 2002 so she could be closer to her "boys" and their families.
As long as she was able, she attended Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Piggott.
