Young Rector man dies of injuries sustained in wreck
John Cody Moore, 20, of Rector died Thursday, March 1, at The Med in Memphis from injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident Saturday, Feb. 25, at the intersection of Highways 62 and 135 near Corning.
Moore was a passenger in a 2000 Mitsubishi driven by 19-year-old Corey Taylor of Corning. Moore and another passenger, 21-year-old Meagan Tyler of Knobel, were thrown from the vehicle when the driver lost control and the vehicle went off the road onto an embankment. Moore suffered serious head injuries.
An Arkansas State Police report indicated Moore and Tyler were not wearing seatbelts. It is unknown if Taylor was wearing a seatbelt.
All three were taken to The Med. Taylor was released the day after the accident. Tyler has now been released but continues to recover from a fractured neck, fractured spine and other broken bones.
Cody grew up and went to school in Rector. He was the son of Nita and Huston Bowden of Rector and John and Dede Moore of Paragould.
