The Lady Cougars continued to burn white hot on the softball diamond, blistering the hosting Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats, 14-0 in six innings Monday. The girls in blue have won all seven of their games this season, most in blowout fashion.
Rector dominated every facet of the game, with an overpowering performance on the mound by junior hurler Kelly Fowler and an excellent all-around showing at the plate.
Fowler improved to 6-0 with the shutout, ringing up 10 Lady Bobcats while allowing just three hits and a walk.
Every Lady Cougar who stepped into the batter's box hit safely on the afternoon. Rector was led at the plate by senior standout Amanda Bradford, who finished 3-3 with four RBIs and a pair of two-baggers. Anna Blackshare also notched a pair of doubles en route to driving in three runs. Kendal Gunn and Kaitlyn Essman added a pair of hits and an RBI each in the victory.
Blackshare and Bradford both hit two-run doubles as part of a sixth inning explosion which saw Rector score eight runs and set the stage for the early ending.
