Marcelle G. McCluney
ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Marcelle G. McCluney, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the funeral home. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel.
Marcelle was born and raised in Rector, Ark., on Dec. 5, 1921, to Grace and Harry Ellison. On Sept. 22, 1941, she married her loving husband Myron McCluney. They relocated to Warren, Mich., early in their marriage.
She was the proud and devoted mother of six children and a proud "Grandma" to 20 grandchildren that she adored. She also was a loyal and dedicated wife. She worked as a nurses' aide. She believed in helping others and doing the little things that brought happiness to those around her.
In 1976, Myron and Marcelle retired and moved to Sherman, Texas. There she spent her time doing the things she enjoyed, including fishing, crocheting, cooking, gardening and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Mom will be best remembered for her giving nature and concern for others. For those that knew her well, she will be remembered for her hospitality, spunk and love of independency. We love you and will miss you Mom!
Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Myron McCluney; her daughter, Sue Proctor; her granddaughter, Jill McCluney Franklin, and grandson, John Allevato.
Survivors: son, Robert McCluney and wife Diane; daughters, Patricia Allevato and husband John, Bette Creswell, Cindy Ehrlich and husband Steve, and Diane Gillespie; 20 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
