Melvin Henson, 85, of Greenway, Ark., passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born on March 22, 1927, in Caraway, Ark., and was the son of the late Mose and Myrtle Rea Henson.
He was united in marriage to Lorene Hoggard on Dec. 16, 1945, and to this union three daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene; one brother, Duel Henson, and three sisters, Lily Terry, Myrl Otte and Pearl Holt.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Perryman of Clarkton, Mo., Linda Riddle and Ricky Smart of Greenway, Ark., and Tammy Henson of Piggott, Ark.; four grandchildren, Bannon Perryman, Carrie Massey, Trae Brawley and Amy Brawley; six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jorden, Rolen, Trae II, Aidan and Cooper; two sisters, Diane Leath of Little Rock, Ark., and Paulette Langston of Granite City, Ill., and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Ronnie Stevens officiating. Burial is in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation began at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
