During the regular meeting of the Piggott School Board on Monday night, May 21, the board approved the hiring of David Reynolds as boys basketball coach. In other hiring decisions, Katina Wilson was reassigned as elementary secretary and Pam Morgan was transferred into the position of elementary librarian.

Interim superintendant Leean Mann updated the board with the news that summer school started this week with the hours from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The summer feeding program is cancelled for this year due to unforeseen circumstances, she noted.

Mann also announced a 9:30 a.m. meeting June 1 at the (old) Piggott armory with Dr. Ruth Hawkins of Arkansas State University to discuss the possibility of ASU classes to be held at the armory.

In other business, the board:

* approved all school choice students, most of which live in Greenway.

* approved the professional and occupational therapy contract of Ron Norman for the 2012-2013 school year.

* approved the non-certified salary schedule for the 2012-2013 school year.
