Meadowlark Lemon makes return visit to Piggott

Meadowlark Lemon, of Harlem Globetrotter fame, made a return visit to Piggott in the past week for a fundraiser for ROCK Ministries. During his time in Northeast Arkansas Lemon also took the opportunity to visit the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum where he had the rare chance to sit at the great author's desk.

Meadowlark Lemon, the world-renowned "Clown Prince of Basketball," made a return visit to Piggott on Monday, Oct. 22. In early May Lemon spoke at a special community-wide ministry event at the Piggott Community Center. Last week he returned to speak at a special fundraising dinner at the Piggott Diner to benefit the local ROCK (Reach Out Christ's Kingdom) Ministries.

Lemon was first enticed to visit the Piggott area after meeting local pastor/author Chris Shelton of ROCK.

Both have authored books with a message of faith and caring, and both publications include a forward by evangelist and author Frank Shelton.

During the event in May, Lemon met with dozens of local residents and signed copies of his book, "Trust Your Next Shot."

During his return visit to Northeast Arkansas, the former Harlem Globetrotter had a different request, to visit Hemingway's study.

And, thanks to the staff of the Hemingway-Pfeifer Museum and Education Center of Piggott, he had a chance to do just that.

Late last week Lemon, accompanied by Shelton, was treated to a VIP tour of the local museum. During the tour, the museum staff made a huge exception to the rules, allowing Meadowlark to be photographed with his book at Hemingway's desk in the barn studio.
