"Monte Howell is the parade chair again this year, and he will be lining up the entrants at the elementary school Saturday morning," chamber secretary Jan Glover noted. She added that the judging has been changed this year, with one $50 prize going to the best entry.
A variety of vendors will be set-up around the square during the event, plus there will be live entertainment at the gazebo. Following the parade Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in their house and everyone is invited to bring their own cameras for photos.
The Chamber of Commerce will also be giving away a variety of gifts for kids age 16 and under, although gifts for those over 16 have been eliminated this year. A sign-up table will be located near the gazebo and the winners must be present.
"A variety of vendors are already signed up for the event, and Centurylink is providing free hot dogs while they last served by the local chapter of the CMA," Glover added. "Plus, along with the other gifts we'll be giving away a boy's and a girl's bicycle at 3 p.m. courtesy of an anonymous donor."
Glover also added that performers are still needed, and noted that anyone interested in performing should contact her at 598-3167. "We're also still accepting donations of gifts to be given away, or money to purchase gifts," she added.
The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Christmas Fest on the first Saturday of each December. Local businesses also will be holding special sales, and observing special hours, in conjunction with the event.
