An accident involving a trailer truck south of Greenway blocked traffic along Highway 49 for nearly three hours Thursday, Dec. 13.

According to a report field by Cpl. Michael Exum of the Arkansas State Police, the 2011 Freightliner tractor trailer, owned by Delta Plastics of Little Rock and driven by Lynn Fuller of Stuttgart, was traveling north along Highway 49, approximately three miles south of Greenway near the infamous "S" curve, when the trailer being hauled dropped off the right side of the roadway. The report stated the driver over-corrected, causing the tractor trailer to overturn on its ride side across the roadway.

With its positioning on the highway, the accident covered both lanes, effectively stopping travel along a portion of Highway 49.

The Greenway Fire Department, Clay County Sheriff's Department and ASP responded to the scene, but amazingly no injuries were reported. Two wreckers from Rudi's Towing of Paragould were utilized in moving the large transport vehicle, but the highway remained blocked until approximately 11 a.m. Law enforcement officers directed traffic to nearby roadways in order to allow travelers to continue to their destinations.
