Region Digs Out From Christmas Blizzard

Thursday, December 27, 2012
Piggott city workers were busy Thursday morning removing the mountains of snow from around the square.

The region continues to dig out from the Christmas Blizzard of 2012. The storm, which roared through the area late Tuesday and early Wednesday, left in its wake nearly a foot of snow and much colder temperatures.

Residents in Marmaduke were among the nearly 200,000 Arkansas residents that were without power due to the storm. Although, luckily only sporadic outages were reported otherwise.

Road conditions were dangerous, but only a handful of traffic accidents were reported locally.

More details on the storm, and its impact on the region, may be found in the Jan. 2, 2013 print and online edition of The Clay County Times-Democrat.
