Dalphus Oscar Moffitt
Dalphus Oscar Moffitt of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
A Navy Veteran during World War II, Dalph was born September 7, 1921, in Wooster, Ark., to the late Oscar Stewart and Maggie (Matchett) Moffitt.
On May 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lula Jane (Watson) Moffitt who survives and resides in the home. Other survivors include brother, Burl Moffitt of Fagus, Mo.; special nephew, Stanley Moffitt and wife Connie; niece, Francine Ivester; sister-in-law, Jerrylean Ivester; brother-in-law, David Wheeler; sister-in-law, Edith Moffitt and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Dalph was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by all friends and family, most of all by his lifetime companion and wife, Jane.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Jan. 6 at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. A military honors service was also held at the graveside.
Pallbearers were Don Shelton, Howard Adams, James Miller, Randy Tittle, Randy Lemmons and Chris Tarno. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Potter and Ronnie Cohan.
