Cougars Take Game from Bobcats
The Cougars came away with a victory over the hosting walnut Ridge Bobcats Friday, winning 57-44.
Rector led throughout: 16-13; 28-18 and 38-36.
Mitchell Weber led the Cougars wilth 18 points. Dillon Shelton, 12 points, and Alec Scott, 11, also reached double figures in scoring for the Cougars, who moved to 14-7 with the win. Also scoring for Rector were Reed Weber 8, Daniel White 6 and Landen Crancer 3.
Zach Crisler led Walnut Ridge with 18 points.
"It's always good to go to Walnut Ridge and get a win," RHS coach Matt Mills said. "They're always competitive and that's a good win for us as we get ready for things to pick up in conference play."
The Junior Cougars were downed in their meeting with Walnut Ridge, 52-34.
Rector trailed throughout: 17-10; 27-22 and 41-28.
Lawson Ford and Danny Hager led the Junior Cougar offense, netting 14 and 11 points, respectively. Kade Scott sank two threes for six points. Garrett Buck had three points for Rector on the night.
The Junior Cougars moved to 7-6 with the loss.
The Cougars are slated to visit Augusta beginning at 4 p.m. Friday in an evening of basketball will also feature the girls' teams. Rector is set to visit Riverside beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
