The three seniors on the Piggott Mohawk basketball squad played their final game last week in the district tournament loss at Hoxie. During senior night activities at PHS the three were photographed with their coaches. The Piggott Mohawks wrapped up their season last week, losing in the second round of the district tournament at Hoxie. The Tribe fell to the host Mustangs 70-60 in their third meeting of the year, as Hoxie took the series 2-1. The Mustangs then went on to beat Manila and Earle, gaining the district crown and a high seed in this week's regional tournament.

With a big home crowd behind them, the Mustangs jumped out to the early lead in their game with the Mohawks and led19-8 by the end of the first quarter of play. The Tribe responded in the second frame, and cut the Hoxie lead to just five by intermission, 29-24.

The Tribe held with their hosts in the third period, and still trailed by five going into the final frame.

But, down the stretch the Mustangs held on to post the 10 point win.

Leading the way for the Tribe was Lucas Brewer with 18 points, including a 7 for 8 night at the charity stripe. Will Jett finished with 17 points, hit 5 of 6 free-throws and two 3-point baskets. Meanwhile Logan Murray had 9 points, Austin Murray and Bradley Stephens had 4 points each and Cody Mantz finished with 3 points. As a team the Mohawks converted on 16 of 21 free throw attempts.

The Mustangs got 26 points from Colton Watson in the win, and as a team made 22 of 33 free throws.

For the Mohawks it was the final game for seniors Lucas Brewer, Logan Murray and Cody Mantz. But, on the bright side for coaches David Reynolds and Michael Harrell, the squad will return a wealth of talent next season and will benefit from a strong freshman class as well.
