Opal L. McKenney, 92, Piggott, Ark., passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
She was born September 22, 1920, in Pollard, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Willie and Arra (Underwood) Permenter.
She was united in marriage to Frank McKenney on Oct. 6, 1939, and he preceded her in death Aug. 27, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; three sisters and her grandson, Brian McKenney.
Opal was a charter member of Hitts Chapel General Baptist Church in Piggott, Ark., and loved to quilt and garden.
Survivors include three sons, Roger McKenney and wife Margie of Piggott, Ark., Lowell McKenney and wife Deanne of Rector, Ark. and Gary McKenney of Pollard, Ark.; daughter, Brenda Fielder and husband Rick of Jonesboro, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Lynnette Beard, Delayne McKenney, Brandye Lucas, Trae Peacock, Brent Ezell, Melissa Brown, Jeff Fielder, Rachel Morgan and Garrett McKenney; fifteen great-grandchildren, Alex McKenney, Claire and Nathan McKenney, Cody and Justin Peacock, Ethan, Mary Elizabeth, and William Lucas, Gretchen and Vivian Morgan, Bryant Brown, Charlie Latta, Lexi and Jacey Fielder and Cooper Ezell and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb.28, 2013, at Hitts Chapel General Baptist Church with Anthony Dowdy and Charles Richardson officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers are Delayne McKenney, Jeff Fielder, Michael Beard, Garrett McKenney, Trae Peacock, Mark Morgan, Brent Ezell, Dustin Lucas, Alex McKenney, Cody Peacock, and Ethan Lucas. The family also wishes to honor the Ladies Sunday School Class and Pat Colter, who were dear friends of Opal's. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
