The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds held off a tough Mountainburg Lady Dragon squad to advance to the semifinals of the 2A State Tournament with a 62-59 overtime victory Friday afternoon at Marmaduke.

Jessica Lee made one of two at the stripe with 11.6 seconds left in overtime to move the Lady 'Hounds ahead by three, setting the final tally in place. A three-point attempt by Mountainburg's Maddy Backus fell short off the front of the rim in the final seconds.

A slow start by Marmaduke saw the Lady Dragons lead by as many as 13 points in the first half. Mountainburg held a 28-18 advantage at intermission. MHS couldn't get things going from beyond the arc, making just one three-pointer on numerous attempts.

Marmaduke fought back in the second half. The Lady 'Hounds brought a greater intensity to both sides of the floor in the third frame, in addition to attacking the basket, to negate the Lady Dragon advantage. Sidnee Bopp had the hot hand for Marmaduke in the frame, netting 11 points in the period. Bopp finished the day with a game-high 21 points. Whitley Boggs and Jessica Boggs added 17 and 13, respectively. Jessica Lee, nine points, and Alexus Jones, two, rounded out the Marmaduke scoring.

Destiny Webb led four Lady Dragons in double figure scoring with 18.

The Lady 'Hounds are now set to play the winner of Friday night's meeting of Magnet Cove and Spring Hill at 6 p.m. Saturday at Marmaduke. The BIC Lady Mustangs, also of conference 2A-3, will play Norphlet-Poyen in Saturday's 12 p.m. semifinals.

On the boys' side, EPC will play the winner of Junction City-Poyen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Cedar Ridge and Parker's Chapel and Riverside and Gurdon were set to play Friday to determine who will advance to the 7:30 p.m. semifinal.

The 2A finals will be played next weekend at Little Rock's Barton Coliseum.
