Sunday morning, March 3, 2013, Edmond Joseph Hurst, "Eddie Joe" as most knew him, was summoned to his eternal home. Eddie passed away at the Piggott Community Hospital from a massive heart attack. He was 57 years old. His sisters said he must have followed their mother's lead, as she too missed church one Sunday morning and went to Heaven instead, she was 54.

Eddie graduated from ASU with a degree in Radio and T.V. Communications. Upon graduation he returned home to farm with his dad.

Eddie loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, camping and keeping up with current events. His primary hobby was photography. He accepted the Lord as his Savior as a young boy at home, and was baptized at the Nimmons Baptist Church.

Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Whitlock Hurst. He is survived by his three children, Kayla Jo Reis (Tony) of O'Fallon, Mo.; Kayla's mother, Kelly Loafman; one son, Quinton Hurst; daughter, Danielle of Senath, Mo., who resides with their mother, Mrs. Shelia Dowdy. He also leaves behind his father, Edmond H. Hurst of Nimmons, Ark.; two sisters, Teresa Edwards (Gary) of Jonesboro, Ark. and Marsha Ives (Justin) of Bryant, Ark.; nephews, David Edwards of Nashville, Tenn., Kevin Edwards of Jonesboro, Ark., Cody Ives of Bryant, Ark.and Alex Ives of Cherry Point, N.C.; special friend Darline Taylor along with a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Davey Winberry and Dr. Adrian Parker officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Harmon, Rowdy Hayes, Mike Morgan, Clark Owen, Kenny Sample, Richard Sample and Robert Sample. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at the funeral home.

Eddie wishes were to be cremated after his service and for his ashes to be spread over the family farm. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
