Henson Named Piggott's Proudest Kid

On hand for the announcement of the winners in the "Piggott's Proudest Kid" essay contest were, from left: Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce Vice President Brian Haley, second place finisher Sebastian Mayberry, third place finisher Olivia Schnable, winner Callie Henson and Piggott Mayor Gerald Morris.

The winners of the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce's essay contest, "Piggott's Proudest Kid" were announced Monday, March 11. The essay contest is conducted each year by the local chamber in an effort to foster pride in the community, and highlight the positive aspects of the city. It is open to third grade students at Piggott Elementary School.

This year's first place entry came from Callie Henson, while second place honors went to Sebastian Mayberry and third place was Olivia Schnable. Callie and Olivia are both students in Marilyn Wellman's class while Sebastian is in Carol Keyes' third grade class.

The three winners gathered Monday morning for a photo with Mayor Gerald Morris, and Chamber of Commerce Vice President Brian Haley. The group was then joined by Wellman and PES Principal Leean Mann for lunch at Donna's Country Kitchen. Callie, as the first place finisher chose the location for the special luncheon.
