Crash Claims Life of Marmaduke Man
A Marmaduke man died from injuries received during a two-vehicle accident Monday morning. According to information released by the Arkansas State Police, 51-year-old John McClure succumbed to injuries he received after his vehicle was struck by a semi near the Slaven's Creek bridge on Highway 49 south of Marmaduke.
The ASP report indicated the semi, driven by James Frost, Jr. of Paragould, skidded across both lanes of traffic while traveling north at approximately 7:35 a.m. Monday. It is believed the rear tandem wheels of the trailer dropped off the highway, resulting in the semi overcorrecting and losing control. As the large transport crossed into the oncoming lane, it struck McClure's vehicle.
McClure was airlifted to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, but died during the flight.
